WebPorth y Rhaw is a multivallate coastal promontory fort much reduced by coastal erosion, so much so that the interior of the fort is now reduced to a small promontory. Previous excavations were undertaken between 1997 and 1998 . WebI went to Porth y Rhaw, just outside of Solva, to visit Fran Murphy and her team from Dyfed Archaeological Trust as they excavated an Iron Age promontory fort. It's an impressive place, you can hear visitors being shown around the site at one point and, of course, the wind and waves crashing below us all the way through.
